I have won a Touche frame in a Pearson competition and I have 3 options

1) Sell it - can get either colour and any size - I have never ridden a single speed bike, not sure whether I would get on with it and I already have 2 decent bikes (and spare cash)

2a) Ask Pearsons to build it for me with their parts
2b) Ask Pearsons to build it for me with parts sourced as cheaply as possible online

So I guess my questions are - 1) what might I get selling it on (retails at £330)
2a) they sell the bike for £650 so I am guessing at costing me the difference
2b) how much for parts and build? I have a spare saddle and some pedals, not a lot else

2a & b could easily end up costing me money if I don't get on with the bike - I wouldn't be parting with either the hybrid or roadbike, this would be a true N+1

I have bought 4 bikes from Pearsons in the past (2 this year) so I am sure they'll be accommodating.

thanks in advance for any thoughts

I doubt that Pearson would be keen to go for 2b. You would probably need to do the build yourself ... but I could be wrong.

Will they offer a cash alternative to the frame as the prize? After all if you are a regular, they will probably see some of it back in the till.

Otherwise, if I was in your position, I would take the frame and sell on ebay rather than build it up to something that may not be what anyone is looking for, especially if the build has been done on the cheap.

Thanks Touche

I wouldn't have a clue how to build a bike to be honest, so would need to pay someone to do it

I'll go chat to them and as you say see if they'll do a cash alternative - I have been hankering after a new hybrid, just not necessarily one that they sell

I don't really want to pay the thieving eBay so-and-so's, prefer a forum, other than here and LGFSS, any other suggestions? If I go the eBay route, I would need to plump for a size and colour and hence limit the market!

As long as the colour is dark and the frame would suit someone of around, oh I don't know, 5'11" or thereabouts, I'm sure you'd be able to sell.
