Been mtn biking for 3 months now and think its time to go clipless, currently have A530 pedals on my road bike and wondered if they would be suitable for mtn biking or should I consider another option, M520 or 540 perhaps?

I would get some 105 for your road bike and put the 530s onto your mountain bike

A520 are very cheap, but not the best available. They work perfectly well, but for less than another fiver you can pick up a pair of PD M530 which are billed as their trail pedal. They are dual sided and have a larger alu surround.http://www.parker-international.co....ogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=pid18566

This gives a bit more contact, but more importantly aids clipping in. They are a bit weighty, but have a big brother the PD M785 which you can find a t Ribble for a bargain £50 http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/mt...pless-SPD-M785-XT-Pedals/SHIMPEDM260000000000

A530 are single sided. Some would say this was great as you can still pedal on the platform side. Personally I prefer to be able to clip in quickly on certain terrain, esp rocky climbs etc, and wouldn't want to bugger about flipping the pedal to get going.
