My favourite peeves all replicated to the letter. Especially the " Oh thanks" " Oh no , don't mention it" conversations with self.

It's irrational of me, but I really hate it when I'm driving towards an obstruction on my side of the road, and another car is approaching. I slow down, change gear, steer in behind the obstruction ony to see the other motorist stop, flash their lights and insist I go past despite it being their priority., It really, really pisses me off. Why?:bravo:

Because when you have already taken the time to give way, having the other person stop and concede priority does not gain you anything (since you have already stopped), and may cost you time (since it may have been quicker all round if they had continued on and out of your way rather than stopping).

Good effort!! That helps me understand it a bit better: I felt a bit guilty as they were showing a courtesy, but as I actually don't gain from it, and neither do they, then it was utterly pointless.

You've answered your own question....."It's irrational of me' how can we offer a rational explanation?

In a related theme I was driving along a street that was narrowed by cars parked on either side of the street leaving just enough room for one car to drive along it. I spotted an oncoming taxi and a gap in the parked carrs on the passenger side that i could have pulled into to let the taxi past if he hadn't put accelerated and passed it before I got there.

My response was simple. I stopped my car, switched off the engine, switched off my lights got out of the car theatrically slowly and stepped onto the pavement and stared at the very embarrassed driver - his passengers were in fits of laughter.

I made him say pretty please before I got back into the car and pulled into the aforementioned gap once he'd reversed past it.

It made my evening.
