Try one of the big insurance company web sites, e.g. Aviva to get a quote for the insurance to get an idea for how much the insurance alone would cost. While there are a lot of other benefits in the BC package, it's unlikely that you would need all of these, so you may be cheaper with a lower, more appropriate BC package and separate accidental injury insurance.

In between here and there
As long as you give them a term then you should get a reasonable amount of cover for quite low payments, depending the term you opt for and your current age. They will then take the bet that you will live past the term..

Type term life assurance in to google, I reckon you could get 150k+ for for monthly beer money if you went for a ten year term

are you after life assurance, or some kind of specific bike insurance? This a loaded question, since if the later, what about being run over as a pedestrian, getting sick and dying, choking on a pretzel, dropping down dead of a heart attack, hit by falling piano?

If you want life assurance, then you need to work out how much dosh your dependants need to get by / be comfortable, then get a quote for that.
If you're in a permanent job you may well have 3xsalary or some such death in service benefit., which might suffice - but probably not cover getting sick, and dying some time later after having had to jack it in.

Here for rides.
I'm more worried about getting maimed "life changing injury" style than getting killed.

Have you thought about some sort of insurance to cover loss of earnings etc., in case something less than the worse happens?

now that I'm commuting 5 days a week and have to use the A47 for a small part of my communte
Where are you coming/going from/to unless you want to get from A to B extra fast you hardly have to touch the A47.

Thorney to woodston through willow hall lane this gives me a 10 mile eachway communte...I'm only on the A47 for a short amount of time but even at 5 am plenty of trucks.. 3 - 3.30 pmish somedays its difficult to get in position for the Thorney roundabout, I'm not that bothered to be honest but was thinking about the family and what if...
If you want to avoid it cut straight south to North Bank, at its right hand bend go straight onto the cycle path which will lead you through to Bishops Road and you can go through Rivergate to Oundle Road and Woodston.

thanks all, I work full time but through an agency, I don't think there would be a loss of earnings cover ...
I think a term life assurance is what I'm after..

Just as an example, I was offered the following by Aviva in a recent mail shot, £20 a month for a 19 year term (female, 41, non smoker). £145.5k cover (premiums of £4.5k total); £30 a month, £238k, £40 a month £326k. If you smoke, the payouts are halved for the same premiums

I've no idea if that's the best cover, but a decent company and a 5* Defacto rating

You might also want to look into critical illness cover

thanks for that, I need to be looking at £6-£7 a month over 10-15 years £50,000 with no critical cover, 44 non smoker... its about my limit at the moment..but its a pain getting quotes online, .........
Why not just call the likes of Aviva or your bank? They are probably much of a muchness. Or just use moneysupermarket
