There's been a car blocking my drive for about 3 hours.

It's really irritating me. There isn't even a car on the drive/In the garage, but even so. OH will be back with a car load of camping gear in a bit - he won't be best pleased.

I've got much to do (flying to NYC in the morning) but I feel compelled to stand at the window so I can go and harangue the anti social nuicance, who ever they are.

I might be mistaken and I expect one of the police officers who frequent the forum could clarify. I believe it is illegal to block access onto a public highway (so blocking somebody on a driveway is illegal) but it's not illegal to block a driveway if there is not car on the drive.
As such any action you take could place you in the wrong from a legal perspective..

. However you could take the plates of it which then makes it an illegal road vehicle and increases the possibility of the vehicle getting towed where ever it is parked on the public highway and inconvenience the owner as they have to get new plates made.... not that I would advise such an action

They've gone now.

They got a shock when they had to remove a bikini clad 40 year old woman covered in flour, water and dung from the bonnet before they could drive off! Ha! That'll learn em.

That's how I understand it too, but to be fair the anti social drive blockers had no way of knowing that there isn't a car in the garage.

I still occasionally get people parking either across my drive or so close that I can't get a car out as the road outside is very narrow. I try to not get my blood pressure up about it nowadays. :cursing:

In the past, when I had an AEC Matador parked on the drive, I would tell the driver to move their car. The response was often "Yeah, I'll move it in a bit, I won't be long, just visiting X (or waiting to pick up my kids)."
I would let the hand brake off on the Matador and let it slowly roll down the drive towards their car as I walked back into the house.
cars were moved pretty quickly then! :giggle:

I'd then run down the drive to stop the Matador when they drove off.
I did get it wrong one time and the Mat trundled slowly across the cobbled road and knocked down the stone wall opposite! I quickly rebuilt it so no one noticed and it didn't happen.
