I'm hoping to upgrade our photoshop (very old version) in the very near future - if we get hold of the student licence. I use photoshop a bit for touching up photographs, layers etc, and producing some stuff for work occasionally.

My daughter is doing Art and Design and is into creating graphics that are used on the internet that I'm already quite impressed with.

I went browsing in Waterstones today for books and as always there are almost too many on this subject. Has anyone any recommendations.... I am quite prepared to buy us separate books as we use it slightly differently.

I noticed a couple of authors attracting my eye when browsing: Steve Caplin and Martin Evening. Are they any good?

No every time I borrow a book from the library I end up paying fines.... I just can't manage to remember to renew it every 3 weeks:blush:. Last time I may as well have bought the map in the first place.

Isn't it like 20p or something? Better than the £20 + for a dodgy photoshop book.

With most things computing, there is a wealth of free information available on the internet. I wouldn't bother with a book myself.

+1. There are so many good tutorials and tips out there on the internet I wouldn't bother with a book (though if I was spending money then Photoshop for Photographers by Martin Evening is very good as a reference tool). The Adobe TV site is a good starting place. For graphic/design based stuff the tutorials on computers arts are brilliant, though they are very in-depth and some take a couple of hours to complete. Your daughter will learn loads from them though.

20p's soon add up (I mean 5 books for one week late and you are talking £5) ... honestly I have used notes to pay fines before now!!!

Mr Summerdays likes to look at on-line tutorials, me I prefer the feel of paper, and being able to curl up on the sofa to absorb the information, and flick back and forth between the pages too (hence why I bought the Park Tools book). My daughter probably would cope with the on-line links though so thanks for those.
