Picking my first bike

Hi everyone,
my first post, for my first bike
I am looking to buy a hybrid bike, as I am an occasional biker, with some back issues, and would most probably only ride it on paved roads/tracks
I am torn between these two models, and would appreciate any suggestions:
1. Raleigh Calipsel i8 (2011)
2. Giant Cypress DX W (2011 or 2012)
I can get the first one discounted for around 500 including all taxes (I am in Canada), while the Giant would be for around 575

Welcome to CC. I am no expert on Hybrids however if both bikes are similarly speccd (I would imagine that the Giant costs more because of the Brand) then I would pick the one that fits you the best. You can have the best brand/bike in the world but if it does not fit you or suits your particular requirements then it is not the best bike for you.

If you can test ride both of them back to back one will probably appeal more than the other.
