Whilst driving on Friday morning I was listening to R5Live who were regularly giving updates on the tennis. One player had cramp and it was suggested he was drinking pickle juice.
I can’t play tennis, but I do suffer from cramps on longer rides.

Does anyone here have experience or knowledge of this ?

Should I take it before or only during the ride?

is it just another fad and I should just take more care drinking before and during the ride?

Comments welcome

What's pickle juice? Surely he's not drinking the vinegar from a jar of pickled onions is he?

And while we are on the subject why do BBC sports reporters refer to tennis players by their nationality, e.g. 'The Spaniard' or 'The Serb'? Is it relevant? Why not just use their names?

IIRC it contains lot of electrolytes, nutrients and apparently the bitter taste has some additional benefit to getting people going again.... it's a fairly common thing although I've not tried it myself.

Have you ever tried saying Chandraseharianakan 231 times during a tennis match? Its much easier to just say, "the Welshman."

i thought he was "Jones The Racquet" who regularly gets mixed up with young Dyfed who plays in a thrash metal band, who is "Jones The Racket"
