I called in at Woodrups today bearing a baker's dozen pies and to catch up on the developments since the flood in Kirkstall. Kirkstall Road where Woodrups is, is lined with utilities vans from BT, energy companies and property services vans.

Woodrups got off lightly as their cellar acted as a sump and the shop floor only had an inch of water. They kept mainly tyres, inner tubes and some low end Shimano stock down there along with a few bikes awaiting repair. The neighbouring supermarket and fast food establishments weren't so lucky as they kept their stock and food supplies in their cellars and they didn't have contents insurance.

The staff were upbeat because they have bounced back within four days thanks to the efforts of friends and folk with appropriate skills and equipment to sort out electrical and water pumping.

They were ecstatic when I opened the 'pie box'. Surprisingly, they all made a beeline for the Boroughbridge pies first - confirmation of the high visual appeal scores awarded in the Chateau Levy pie-fest last night.

And pssst... you heard it here first. If you want to steal a march on folk that frequent the Woodrup social media pages. They will be selling their display model Woodrup Chimera at a substantial discount in the not too distant future. I'd buy it to keep mine company but it's the wrong shade of green. Contact them to express an interest/arrange a test ride/seek further details. It's not going on Facebook for several weeks.

I'd love to get that Chimera but Mrs R has put her foot down with a firm hand, if you know what I mean.

It's got S&S couplings.....
