Can I grow Strawberries for an actual strawberry?

Not in 8 months, most plants are take from runners and they take two years to get a decent crop. If you are trying to grow from seed, a) you will be lucky to get viable seed and it will take an least another year before they crop

I grew most from seed. I tried veg packs from work (work in a garden centre) but the cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower were crap. They performed very poorly. So wont be buying these next year.

But it has been a crap growing year generally, it might not be the seed...

Yeah, I got ONE lousy courgette this year.

I also gave up on brassicas a couple of years ago, after getting very small veg - but it might be my lack of attention to them. I do best with things that can stand neglect for a fortnight.
