Or was it Uncle Mort? Or maybe User482?

Anyway, someone on these boards was enthusing about Gueuze (sp?). I remembered this when the name leapt out at me from the fridge of a Leicester boozer last night. And I'm very glad I did. Thanks!

Not a taste I have yet managed to acquire... but if you like it, the hardest of hardcore gueuze* has to be Boon Mariage Parfait. Like fermented wood.

The experiment cost me £5, so I finished the bloody thing

*pron.: "hoozer", according to the barman in De Zalm in Roeselare

I do like a good Geuze - you do though need to put to one side any preconceptions as to what beer tastes like.

I think Uncle Mort cooks rabbits in it!

Off on hols later today - will stop in Beersel on the way back which is home to a couple of breweries producing Geuze and Kriek.

Hoozer, you say! Yes I suppose it would, and it's rather nicer than the 'gurz' that it's just replaced in my head. Someone once told me that the thing you buy newspapers and cigarettes from is properly pronounced 'shosk', which I guess might also mean that we have to say 'Sheerkegaard' (if indeed we feel the need to say it at all). Perhaps there are legions of literate Norwegians around that can confirm or deny?
