If my memory serves me right, did you had a Roadrat until some tea leaf had away with it?

Only reason for asking, is that I'm thinking of get the Roadrat frame and forks to build up and wondered what was your opinion of it?

In the absence of a reply from Trinka, I can confirm that he was talking about another Roadrat frame and forks in due course. It was a truly lush looking bike, and that's not just because it had my old groupset on.
So that's two thieving toerags I owe a good kicking to...

Mr Summerdays became the owner of a Roadrat this week - but its probably too early to say how its going ... definitely faster overall. I think the bike looks gorgeous. Though I'm still finding it a bit weird it having the front disk on the "wrong" side.

I had a very quick go on it and despite the saddle being far too high, wearing ordinary shoes on clip on pedals and the frame a bit too big for me .. it felt nice and smooth that within a minute or two I was trying to track stand (can't do it properly anyway), and trying no-handed (didn't have the guts to try properly and fall off and scratch his new bike....), but it felt well balanced. My only problem I had was a bit of toe-overlap with the mudguard ends - and I think Mr Summerdays is going to shorten them a bit more anyway.

He cycled it into work 2 times this week and even though he didn't tell anyone about his new bike, lots of people kept coming up and asking if it was his and what a nice looking bike it was.

The bit he is struggling (bit too strong a word but I can't think of a better one) with is the Alfine hub that he had decided on ... and that may just be a case of getting used to the different gears and large step between gears.

Doc, the looks won it for me over the Surly Cross Check frame, vain I know. Plus the option of discs. The only slight concern is the derailleur mount on the chain tug if I wanted to set it up for a bit of light touring.

Summerdays, I know what you mean about the position of the disc mount on the forks, does look a bit odd and doesn't offer much protection to the calipers. Cotic say it so there aren't any issues with fitting mudguards, which makes sense.

I do like the versatility it seems to offer. If I do end up getting a frame and forks set I'll be building it up SS with V's first off, maybe change to discs later on. The only question then is short frame for drops or long frame for flat bar.
