Hi,

I thought this would be the best place to ask... basically i`m not to techically minded and finding it rather complicated to understand plotting a route using the Garmin edge 605.. i`ve been recommended to use bike toaster to plan the route.. but the problem i`m having is the understanding of the actual process which needs to be done to plan the route..the idea is.. what `im trying to do is plan a route from Darlington to Glastonbury sommerset ,.. the plan is to do the journey in stages, ie... Darlington to Rotherham day one...Rotherham to Stratford upon Avon day 2..day 3...Startford upon avon to Bath...day 4 ,Bath to Glastonbury...

would it be best to plan the route in one go using maptoaster or in stages ?...also does map toaster plot the route automatically.. or would i hav to manually draw in the route using the roads which i feel would suitable ?... any other advice would be greatly appreciated, ..many thanks in advance

It does it for you but you can just click the 2 points and it will design a route on roads that are legal to cycle on, but you might not want to (traffic, hills etc). You can click point to point if you like too.

I would personally do it in stages - I think there's a distance limit on the website but I'm not sure.

cheers..thanks for the reply..

i`m actually trying to map the tout automatically but for some reason is not using suitable roads, in the data section i`m highlighting google as to osm .. that is then alowing me to highlight avoid highyways..which is basically drawing a straight line from start to detination...slightly confused grr

is there any other possible way of mapping out a route , which is a bit easyer ... what i`m thinking is, is there a way of actually downloading a map of the uk,, installing onto the Garmin and then entering the destination name ...then followering the route that way ?

Try selecting the OSM and Cycle options instead. It will automatically avoid motorways with the cycle option (as it's illegal), so give that a go. It'll plot it on a road too.
