The how's my driving notices on vans and trucks are managed by third parties and I was informed that participating in such schemes lowers the insurance rates for the participating companies. The incentive for good driving is not for good driving's sake but is driven (sic) by a financial inducement.

Surely, insurance companies will only lower the premiums if they have data which shows that the risk of paying for an accident is less with the 'hows my driving' sticker? Therefore it may improve the quality of driving.

My reason for asking was that a number of companies keep on getting mentioned on here.

They, the company, will have their ideas on how their drivers are advertising the company/presenting a company image. However that may not be how they are being seen on the roads.
