Just another reason not to use the Bow Roadabout.... I've used it a hand full of times just for interest, and it's an exceptionally nasty experience. Consider using the flyover, just don't get caught speeding as you come off it...;)

I stopped using the roundabout eastbound when Tower hamlets/newham (they never could decide) didn't salt the cycle lane that was put in to "protect" cyclists. Flyover is much more fun . i have been known to nudge over the limit for motor vehicles on the descent. if you keep pedalling hard there is a good strava segment up to warton road.

Their mistake is being so stubborn that it would appear the OP couldn't explain their mistake to them at the scene. I think he handled it well, and contacting the police afterwards to point out said mistake and asking for it to be pointed out is an excellent approach.

So did you admit to it? Just because the police say they will let you off if you admit to it, I'm pretty sure they can turn around after you have confessed and do you for it.
Good point, didn't really admit to it, just mumbled a "OK I won't do it again....... even though I didn't do it" type response. Like a petulant child basically

Just to lighten things a little if I may

I had a run in with a PCSO a few years back when I was clip-clopping my then state of the art Softride Tri (I have no shame I know) bike home from work after having broken the chain and not having anything to do a running repair with.

Now, given that I was at the time wearing full on Team Jelly Belly kit (told you I was low on shame), longs and longsleave jersey, road shoes with cleats, helmet and glasses you would think that man and bike could be paired without thought would you not? The PCSO who stopped me thought otherwise, asked me if I could prove ownership and when I couldn't asked me for my details and proof of identity and I had be schlep to the station the next day with proof of ownership, which I didnt have as the bike was second hand so all I could do was show pics of me finishing races on the same bike.

On the way out, after having been told by the PCSO that bike theft was rife and that he had to be vigilant whatever the obvious scenario put before him, I over heard the desk sargeant offering advice along the lines of 'there's vigilant and then there's farking vigilant!'

I still grin when I see this particular PCSO around my way
