Anybody see 'Pop, Sex & Videotape: Tonight', last night? People were expressing outrage at the sexual content of contemporary pop videos. They're fairly mild compared to what came out in the 1970's and 80's. Anybody else remember Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls' or Legs & Co dancing to Free's 'Alright Now' on Top of the Pops? This was considered family viewing at the time.

Now then, now then - goodness, gracious, me!

There was also Queen's 'Bicycle Race' video, which featured 60-odd naked women on bikes.

Not to mention Duran Duran and their infamous Girls on Film video. However, top spot must go to Frankie Goes to Hollywood and the banned-by-the-BBC single 'Relax' which got to no.1 at the time. It was funny to watch the presenters of TOTP mention it briefly before 'playing us out' with whatever was at no.2 at the time^_^

I remember watching totp on Thursday nights on BBC 1 in the 80s followed by the Kenny Everett TV show. At primary school people would regularly do their own version of 'Cupid Stunt'...

I think it was done with a bit more humour back in the 70's and 80's.
The current shock surrounding Miley Cyrus is based on the fact that she was a Disney star with loads of young girl fans. Queen and Billy Idol never had an army of pre teen girls to influence.

I've just noticed DLT was presenting this - I hope I'm not in contempt of court!
