Porridge?

While trying to persuade a friend that it would be a good way to fuel up on the morning of a big ride - he thought it'd be "too heavy" - I got to wondering how many of us do eat porridge on the morning of a ride.

Hence the poll. I'm guessing it'll be quite a high vote for yes but would like to know how high.

If you vote no, please say what you do eat.

Well, I had porridge on the morning of my century last week, and all I ate all day while on the ride was a toasted teacake, a cheese sandwich, two biscuits, a handful of raisins, a pot of tea and a half of bitter shandy, so I think the porridge must have helped, because I've suddenly realised, that's not very much food...

You ate a pot of tea? And you call that not much food??

Porridge on ride mornings, definitely - or muesli, but I prefer porridge. Lots of slow burn carbohydrate, keeps you going a really long time. Pasta meal the night before for the same reason.

The reason English people don't like porridge is because they don't salt it - it's pretty horrid without salt. For preference I have salt, maple syrup and milk with mine.
