Inspired by this post I thought it might make a pleasant change for companies to receive positive feedback from us cyclists about their good drivers. Those patient and careful drivers who's actions make our ride a little bit more pleasurable.

So if you come across a courteous driver and you can identify the company, why not tweet, Facebook or email them to let them know - and then post here to let us know if your feedback was positively received.

You never know, you might just make a driver / transport manager's day!! ^_^

Yeah we do this a lot, quite a few threads where people mention reporting good driving, usually by heavy haulage drivers who seem a cut above the rest.

Still massively, massively outnumbered by bad driving by independent traders and private vehicles for whom we have no way (okay apart from "that" London / roadsafe) of easily getting anything done, even getting physically assaulted is not that bad as far as the police are concerned.

I love giving good feedback to companies. Just now I have tweeted to Eddie Stobart and Snap-on Franchise because they were included in my latest patience video. I will post the tweets up here if I get a reply.

I have just been on a rampage on Twitter looking through all my patient driver videos and sending tweets out. Unfortunately ArrivaBus Wales is going to have about 10 tweets from me.

Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to return the courtesy to the driver directly? Other drivers might see it too. For me as a driver on my low and frustrating days, I find kind gestures from other motorists quite comforting.

That's nice enough, but it's far nicer still to tell the driver's boss. He/she will get not only double the joy, but credits for their career too.

Arriva Buses Wales @arrivabuswales
@monkeysnutscom Hi there, thanks for the video's. Although we've not had the chance to view them all they do seem pretty positive. We (1/2)
Arriva Buses Wales @arrivabuswales
@monkeysnutscom (2/2) have sent the video's through to our Head of Ops in Wales who will pass on your appreciation to the relevant garages.
monkeysnutscom @monkeysnutscom
@arrivabuswales Thanks. Most of the videos are relevant to the Rhyl Depot where I have already met the manager. Thanks for passing it on.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
Never ceases to amaze me the number of heavy haulage lorries who actually don't drive well...way to many of them drive like lunatics and pass way to close. Credit to those that don't but my experience is that it isn't just the private small trucks/white van man etc, it is the heavy haulage drivers as well who drive as if a cyclist no more than an irritating fly to be swatted at the first opportunity.

Bus drivers also drive like nutters around here, often on the wrong side of the road and pay little attention to the saftey of cyclists.

There are good drivers of all vehicle classes. Only th eother day I was out and was passed by a heavy lorry, nice and wide, at a safe part of the road with no oncoming traffic...I remarked out load to him "that's how to do it mate!" and gave him a thumbs up and s smile....just as the next truck passed within inches of my right arm:rolleyes:

...but to ge tback on topic...yes it is a good thing to send vids of good driving as well as bad..the more these people know they are being watched the better.

If a driver does something uneededly courteous then they'll certainly get a thank you wave.

I don't think doing what should be expected of anyone is deserving of special thanks, though. As cyclists we shouldn't be having to doff our caps to the superior mister motorist cor thanks guv for not killing me today y'honour 'ow gracious of yer.

As a pedestrian you shouldn't have to thank drivers that stop for you at a zebra crossing, but it's still a pleasant and courteous thing to do.

I prefer a world where people go out of their way to be pleasant and courteous, rather than debating whether the original gesture was an obligation anyway.

Did that, or more correctly tried doing that. E-mailed the company giving vehicle details, location, time & direction. Response was not expected. "Told off" for riding a bike & doing so in the outside lane of a dual(duel) carriageway. Marked lanes, so no real choice but to stay in lane.

I'm glad I've seen this. I have thought about doing this several times but have been too lazy. I'll try to do this in future.
