In either Oct or Nov I bought online a couple of tickets for the Beck/Clapton concert this Saturday. I printed off a page of guff which I believe I may since have shredded in a tidying up purge and of course I can't remember which agency I booked them with.

I routinely shred credit card and bank statements over two months old and internet checks on same show that I didn't get it on the credit card and the bank (Barclays - useless gits anyway) doesn't go back that far.

The only thing I can remember is that the tickets are supposed to be posted about a week before the gig so I am hoping they will be in the letter box tonight or tomorrow as I am supposed to fly to the UK on Friday. I've just got a rotten feeling that it will all go wrong.

Yikes, hope it works out. Have you not got any email confirmation, or anything else as proof?

Unfortunately my computer automatically deletes emails after a certain time. It seems that my drive to minimise both e-clutter and paper clutter has bit me in the bum.

Wasn't these bastards was it Andy? https://www.cyclechat.net/

To cut a long story short, despite promises by them to repay the money, I had to ask the credit card company to recover the cash for me.

UK Ticket factory are now notorious for taking money, promising to post the tickets, then saying they have been let down but you can have a refund, then failing to give such refund. They then profit from people who put it all down to experience and don't reclaim the money via the bank.

These days most decent venues cater for e-tickets which are emailed to you and have a scannable bar code. You print them off and present it a the gig. Anything else is to be treated with extreme suspicion.

Your credit card company or online account will show you who you paid despite the shredded statements.

Not all will, but most will. Also, assuming you know which card you used and roughly when, you should be able to ring up and talk to someone who can check it out for you. Once you know who you paid, you can ring up as Mr Angry demanding to know why your tickets haven't turned up, and they'll send you an email confirmation to placate you.

The UK public do seem particularly prone to buying tickets from fraudsters.
I believe you can buy fake 2012 Games tickets already !

Thanks for the sympathy and tips but I've done the bank and credit card checks and I think I've been had. The only consolation is that this concert is musically such big news that there is a fair chance it will appear on CD/DVD.

Have you checked with seetickets and ticketmaster? They are the usual suspects for ticketing.

When I use either of the aforementioned agencies, I get e-reminders and can return to the web site and print out an e-ticket. Not as satisfying as a real ticket but safer than relying on the postal service.

Hope things work out for you.
