It is a shame, I was looking forward to it, but I really didn't want to be spending every day in the rain, which it seems from the forecast that I would be.

The only wildlife that would cause me concern in a German forrest are ticks.
Food-wise, my mind would be on gateau.

Hmmm. Interesting. It was live when I posted. And had been for several years.
I do know that there is growing resentment of bikes travelling on historically classified pedestrian routes. I wonder if this is a victim?

I'm currently lying in my tent at the side of a small lake. The temperature is still in the mid twenties and I've had a lovely ride today out of Berlin. I've got some cracking days coming up.

Luckily this corner of Germany and where I live, was spared the rain and flooding.

We're apparently in one of the worst affected areas but I haven't noticed much as yet; the river is pretty high but it was carefully designed to deal with much more.

This is one advantage of having a lot more government at local level: it means that there's the financial wherewithal to make a system that works. Of course the flip side of this is a cultural belief that we can design our way out of anything.
I heard it raining in the night; will have to see what the river looks like this morning.
