Has anyone else had potholes on their commute get worse recently? I've now got at least 4 separate 2ft wide 1/2ft deep trenches on my way in that weren't there before my time off for Christmas. I thought it was icy weather that made them worse but it clearly isn't as it's been pretty warm in London recently!

There are loads round here as well. I hit one by surprise this morning and jarred my wrists. Another road on my commute has basically developed a trench on the left-hand side. I think it's a combination of poor weather and the council funding cuts.

There are loads in Swindon and the winter has been mild here so far, once the sub zero temperatures arrive the roads will degenerate even further:sad: .

Plenty of "road trenches" seem to have developed here: in some you can see cables underneath.
Also big potholes that show the old cobbles under the road.
Guess we all better learn fast the art of wheel truing!

We have more pot than road. And I'm not talking about the botanical variety.

Historically they've managed to get on top of the repairs caused by winter weather in time for.. More winter weather.

You should see the potholed down here! You people are lucky. Road construction consists of grading, then rolling, tar sprayed on and chippings thrown on top. Lasts about six months!

One particular road i travel on daily has seriousley deteriorated in the last month. It seems to have been all the recent rain that has caused it,as we have not had a lot of heavy frosts.
The aggregate under the tarmac is scattered all over the road scouring out big potholes.Unfortunately its not that well lit so i proceed with some caution.

The floods have caused massive damage round here. One of the roads into my village runs parallel to the river and there's a section that is always puddled in the winter - and always floods when river can't cope. Since the summer, every time the waters have receded, a new hole has been revealed, and the existing ones are a little bit deeper. I went that way this morning and even the boy racers are slowing down to first gear to navigate their way across it.

Lots of extra holes round here caused by flooding , water was gushing out of a hole in the road the other week and the council repaired it only for it to reappear , as i found out yesterday when i went over it and got a snakebite flat on the back tyre .

agreed....seems a lot more potholes have sprung up around here.....either that or the smaller and shallower ones have just got bigger:biggrin:. As has been said before just wait until we get some frosts instead of rain rain and more rain. They spray tarred the main Nottingham Road a few months back...that was bad news what with the loose chippings (which are still present in patches)......but now its already breaking up in places:thumbsdown:

Have you reported all those potholes. A monster one opened up before Christmas (the sort you avoid in a car) and I assumed due to it's size it would have already been reported. But it certainly hadn't been reported online at the main sites. I still need to take a photo of it as I think it tends to get them fixed faster when they can actually see you aren't exaggerating but we will see how fast they fix it now that the Christmas break is over.

So if you haven't reported those craters .... get logging them NOW!!! It's very easy.
