I REALLY want a set of Prescription Oakley Jawbones , the issue being my eyes !

Oakley do them upto 4.0, my eyes are 9 and 8.

I have found ONE company that will do it, £350, including frames, so approx £200 for the lenses, While I guess thats not too bad as Specsavers charge around £100 for their Thin n Light ones , I just wondered if anyone out there knows of any company that can

A/ do them in my strength

and

B/ at a better price ?

Thanks

Gaz just to give you a comparitor, my prescription is not as strong as yours and my glasses with the cheapest possible frame (£29) came to £269.
Sounds like a good price there.

However, I prefer to wear contacts with cycling none prescription eyewear

Appreciate that

Im someone who has always just gotten the standard £100 BOGOF from Specsavers with no bells or whistles, so it seemed OTT, but the frames are £160 so my Lense price seems comparable with yours.

I'll get em ordered (when I have the money) and stop being such a tight northerner

I'd quite like contacts (well I'd prefer Laser's) but again , being blind as a BAT means that while I could wear them, it would be the heavy, uncomfortable ones

Gaz, get yourself a contact lens appointment and give them a try, some places will do a free consultation and let you try a few before you commit to buying any.
I started wearing them again last year and it does make a big difference, can now wear whatever sunglasses I want, better in the rain, etc etc.

My last pair of glasses were £220+ but the higher the prescription the more limited you are re lenses.
I remember seeing a really nice pair of prescription sunnies in one and asking about them, got told 'we don't do them in your prescription'

Is it possible to get the jawbone presciption lens on their own?

Might work out cheaper that way - buy a pair of jawbones for about £130, sell the lens that they come with (say about £20-30 each) then put the prescription ones in yourself.

Because of my "Script" i have been quoted £260-£400 per year for Contacts

Vs £350 for the Oakleys that will do me at least 2 years.

As for the bit in Bold, thats how it goes for 90% of the options in an opticians for me

Not really, there is a place in America that does it, but sadly because of my PD being so vital, t'is not worth the risk.

I will ask for the original none prescription lenses tho as I am paying full whack for the Frames.

Not as strong as your prescription, but I'm -6 and -7 and got contacts 2 years ago for the first time. They are extremely soft, light and comfortable. If you've never tried before you should go for a consultation - you might be surprised.

The one thing to consider is is your prescription stable? My OH went with contacts so that it doesn't matter when the prescription changes, otherwise its an expensive pair of lenses in the glasses to replace.

I am shortsighted (3?) and got myself a pair of prescription sunspecs some years ago. Problem was, the outside edges of the large lenses are very thick which resulted in a very distorted view compared to my smaller-lensed normal specs. I have never worn the sunspecs because of this

It's certainly not a cheap option to go for contacts Gaz, but there are advantages that are worth more than pure monetary value.
Mine are working out at £300 per year which comes with a 'free' eye-test each year, plus aftercare etc, etc.

You can buy them on-line yourself once you know your prescription, will probably go down that route soon myself.

My prescription is -4 but I also have astigmatism which means the lenses are 'toric' so cost a little more than normal ones, I would seriously get a consultation at least, try them for a few days see how you get on.
Plus they are lighter than glasses, think of the weight saving
