Hi All,

Some time ago, I planted 4 cherry trees & 3 black currant bushes in our garden. It looks as if this year, there'll be fruit to pick.

What is the best way to protect these crops ? Should I buy some netting ? Or if I tie some old CDs on the branches, will that deter the birds ?

Any other tips for getting good crops ? Should I water frequently etc. ?

perhaps this needs ot be on the gardening forum?
(btw - fruit cages at the answer usually or just eat the crop before the birds/mice do)

I haven't tried cherries but my blackcurrants have never been pestered by birds or other pests.

I'd keep an eye on them and then net if necessary.

I keep the plants well watered and give them a good fertiliser at the start of the year and then cut them back quite heavily at the end of the year - the new gives a better crop.
