Provence 12th-19th June 2012

Hi guys

I'm planning two cycle trips this summer, the first will be a cycle trip around Provence.

Will be camping and hosteling it, taking about one week in total. Haven't formulated a route yet, so open to ideas.

Anticipated dates 12th - 19th June 2012.

Would suit those with intermediate cycle touring ability and experience.

Nice for you, if you can afford the time. Unfortunately it's pretty short notice. I'm sure you'll have a great time, it's pretty straight forward. Are you looking for some one to plan your route and your over night stops ????!!!

FWIW, I wouldn't do the coast. Too hot and too busy. There is a lovely area between the Vercors and Avignon including Mont Ventoux. The Gorges de Nesques round there is lovely.
I did a tour through Provence a couple of years ago and was disappointed with Nimes, Arles and the roman sites. Over-priced and touristy.
My report on the ride is here if it helps at all, page 7 to 10 will be in that area I think.

Did these a few years ago.Very scenic with lots of perched historical villages to explore but they involve a short tough climb to get to them..Lavender season is end on June onwards in the area.Some lavender trail cycle routes can be found in the area ...if you are interested..just do a web search for them(some near Saignon etc)..

As rich said, give the coast a miss. We spent six summer holidays in the Vaucluse, but not on bikes. There is some lovely scenery and really pretty villages within a 35 km radius of Carpentras. Have fun.

I'm sick with envy, BTW.
