So, I'm overtaking our two lanes of gridlocked traffic, so slightly on the other side of the road - also two lanes, but their side very light: maybe one car every 30 secs - when the Mini coming t'other way (in the left hand lane) suddenly decides to put his foot down and swerve directly at me. Absolutely nothing I could do - no way back to the left. Then he swerves away at the last moment. I can honestly say I wasn't actually scared for an instant, just enraged. What kind of person gets their kicks doing that?

Some people are just idiots.
One day he will fail to swerve away and do someone some proper damage and then the full might of the law will give him a £50 fine and 3 points on his licence.

Hope you are OK @swee'pea99 It's a scary thing when you come across the care in the community types that have driving licences.

When you say Mini , i bet it was not the one and only true original, ground breaking design & 60's fashion Icon, but the fat bloated BMW kit car rip off, and there in you have your answer, "BMW driver", as they own the road don't you know.
Yes before all you BMW drivers burst with rage i know there are few good BMW drivers.

Yes I had a similar thing a few years ago, riding into Warwick early on a Sunday morning for the start of a charity ride and an old fella in a Jag swerved onto the wrong side of the road and drove straight at me before swerving away, why I don't know but I suspect it was for riding on the road where theres a cycle path, like your mini driver just another example of the idiots we sometimes have to deal with.

It wasn't a psycho Mini was it? It was a Twunt driving a Mini, it could have been any make of car and the Twunt probably would have done that.

I'm glad you alright though, I hope the next time the psycho Twunt does that he ends upside down in a ditch on his own, the feckin prick.
