I have always hated vacuuming with a passion. It has always enraged me. I have always attended to it half-heartedly while grumbling to myself about, "bloody stupid vacuum cleaner takes ages sodding thing could be doing something more interesting sod it bloody nuisance do I look like a skivvy??!"

Anyway, I decided to time it today - and to do a full dust + thorough vacuum clean (without the moaning!) took me ... 35 minutes! I have a 3 bed house with conservatory (so 8 rooms to vacuum).

All these years my psychological block has been that I see it as this huge and boring task that takes ages ... whereas it's actually only 35 minutes. If I do that once a week, every week, my house will be a lot cleaner!

So - that's a psychological block well and truly cracked!

What are your blocks and do you reckon they can be cracked?

I'm actually rather chuffed with myself.

You can't have much clutter in your house and/or you're not doing a thorough job.

when i first used to bike to work, there was a really hard hill. Now i've done much much harder hills and my new commute has at least 4 real darlings on it, much worse than the other one. In fact, they make it look flat. But for some reason, i still really hate that other hill and it's always been my nemesis. If i ride out that way and i know it's on route, i think about all the way until i'm up and over it.

Blue cheese is my major sticking point.

I used to enjoy Lymeswold cheese, which I thought was a nice soft British cheese along the lines of Brie, until the day I found a capsule of spores in it and promptly retched.

Still can't tolerate blue cheese. I can identify the cause of the problem - being made to eat gorgonzola at the tender age of four.

Don't particularly have any desire to be cured.

Am a fellow hater of putting away clean clothes. Usually they sit around in their basket and I pluck out whatever it is I need...until hey presto, the basket is empty!
