There are several options out that way.

CCers regularly attend the Jolly Farmer in Cookham Dean (postcode SL6 9PD if you need for the GPS). If you are going by bike, leave a little in your tank for the last half mile as the climb is a bit of a stiff one. The food and drink make it worth the trip.

Alternatively, if "pub" can be treated loosely, Station Hill Deli a few yards down the hill from Cookham Station (postcode SL6 9PD) is run by the family of a fellow CCer and has always proved an excellent place to stop for a warm brew and meal.

Plan C for a pub which has no connections with CC (which I know about at least) is the Spade Oak (postcode SL8 5PT). It's off the A4155 between Bourne End and Marlow and is rather nice.

I have a load more suggestions if none of those sound appealing.

Thanks Norman. I will try the Jolly Famer.

PS: do you think the road that runs W from the B4447, about 1k S of the station, past Lower Mount Farm is accessible for road bikes (23c) ?

I don't know that particular road but I note that the Streetmap car made it down there and it looks to be wide enough to have a painted line down the middle, in places at least.

Not quite where you are looking for but not too far away is the White Horse at Hedgerley = great array of gravity fed beers, no bar just hatch through to the "cellar", real home made food, CTC "cyclists welcome" signs, and a very long standing destination for clubs riding out of west london. Bar man offered without being asked to fill our waterbottles last time we were in

Norman, VG lunch at the Jolly Farmer and I did enjoy the descent afterwards. Burnham Beeches magnificent today.

Did you know that the railway bridge on Bottle Lane is officially closed for 7 months?

Sorry, gbs, I'm afraid that I don't know Bottle Lane.

I know that the Thames Path here will be closed for about 15 months because of the Olympics, which is a tad frustrating.

D'Oh. I know that road, not that I use it much (or I would have known it was closed!) and I was close to it last weekend when I came down the B3024 from Twyford.
