Dogtrousers
Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Today a dreadful scraping sound from my back wheel caused me to pull up. I guessed that a stone had jammed between the wheel and the mudguard but I found this:
But no puncture. The Durano Plus tyre protection had done its stuff! I needed pliers to remove the nail.
You can see how long it is and deeply embedded it was.
A number of things had combined to save the inner tube: The tyre's puncture protection, the fact that the nail (or whatever it is) was flat ended, and not sharp, and the fact that the tyres were pumped up very hard.
I was most impressed with the fact that no puncture resulted. All the same, I'll have a closer look at how much damage was done to the tyre.
That said, the same tyre was punctured a couple of weeks ago by a teeny tiny shard of glass.

The angle probably helped it not go through as well, I seem to remember that the cut section tyre (Schwalbe) display I saw had a carcass under the protection not outside it so if the tyre doesn't go out of shape and the inside is still solid/undamaged I'd carry on riding it.................On the back though.
