The nearest one is 22 miles away.. Considering the fact that the nearest (decent) super market is 11 miles aways it's not too bad!!!

I go to the sort of Gym Rocky Balboa would feel comfortable at. £30 a year and I can pitch up 24/7. None of this shiny chrome crap and carpet and white machines that look like hi tech kitchen appliances.

A guy at work uses Pure Gyms, they are no frills, 24 hour gyms. He goes before 6am when there are no staff on site. He just swipes his card to let him in.

They are very convenient (assuming there is one near you). No cards though you just have a code to get in.

Nearest one is 4 miles away or so at the Oval... Deal I get at the moment is pretty great anyway at 28 quid a month, no contract...and it's the national sports centre! I get to walk through gorgeous brutalist vaulting every day on my way to the changing rooms.

These seem good value!
They certainly do. OTOH I pay £24 a month here in the Athens of Yorkshire to use any one of the city's pools or gyms, including classes such as Pilates and yoga. The only proviso is that I can't go on weekday evenings but they are full then anyway. It's the bargain of bargains. There again, as a direct result I hardly ever trouble the NHS.

It would save the taxpayer a fortune if we could find a way of giving all adults free membership and making sure they used it.
