Quiet Hubs?

Or more accurately freehubs I suppose.

I'll be buying a new wheelset soon and one of my requirements is that the freehub is as quiet as possible. I'm definitely not a fan of Chris King style clickiness!

All the Shimano hubs I've ever used have been very quiet - are there any other manufacturers that produce silent hubs? Budget is approx £100 for front and rear.

Wait, you stop pedalling?

No idea. I recently changed a silent freehub to a new wheel. Good bye silent freehub I guess the new wheel resonates.

Shimano hubs. 105 is really good value for money. Very quiet and super strong.

It's for a new build which is going to have 20 gears. I really should get my fixed out of the garage - actually you may have just inspired me to get it out tomorrow

105 or Ultegra is the obvious choice, just wondered if there's an alternative?

Only if you want to upgrade to Campagnolo.

Opinion noted I've nothing against Campagnolo, but I know I like Shimano and I have a set of Ultegra shifters to go on the build, so it needs to be Shimano freehub compatible.

Also avoid Hope Pro3 hubs, FYI they are very, very loud.

FYI - you can mix and match some things. For example, if your drivetrain is 10 speed Shimano but you get a great deal on some Campag wheels, you can just stick a Campag 10 speed cassette on and Robert is your Dad's Brother.

I did this when I ordered the wrong wheel once for a commuter build I as doing, although I was building it with a Campag drivetrain and ordered a Shimano compatible wheel, d'oh! One Shimano 10 speed cassette later and the job was sorted.

If your willing to go vintage, go with early Shimano hyperglide, so quiet scares the sh#t out of walkers!
