Shame. I remember reading The Odessa File and Day of the Jackal ages ago and sections still are crystal clear in my mind.
The Film of Day of the Jackal is superb. There is no wasted time, every scene is important and it goes along at a high speed. I guess the Odessa File is similar but I don't know it as well.
Not seen the remake of DOTJ, but isn't it something like 10 episodes, which puts me off somewhat.

From what I can remember of being a youngster he seemed to look at least 50 years old 50 years ago.

The Oddessa File is a banging film, and at least it doesn't contain any disappointments in it, eg Edward Fox missing the target.

Indeed. Michael Lonsdale is alsdo typically superb as the copper on his tail.

Just looked at Amazon and his book "The Outsider" is on Kindle at 99p. It's supposed to be his autobiography (but he says it's not??). Either way it'll be a good read.
