Well, I am a foreigner
What irks me when I am out cycling, frequently getting lost  is folk giving me directions with comments like "why do you want to go there" "it's very far up the hill, take the bus" or even "wind farms are the plague of the earth".
I mean, I could be a foreign tourist

My father (Irish) got into an altercation with Pakistani taxi driver in Bradford when I was young, late 1970's, the taxi driver told him to "FO back to yer own country yer effing immigrant" which was extremely funny to me, if not my dad.

A funny thing happened to me yesterday, some might find it upsetting but i took it a s a compliment. I was racially abused by a group of chavs who saw my Colombia Suarrez jersey,
You do know Luis Suarez plays for Uruguay, right? Or is this a different player?

I travel the country and continually people refer to me as a brummie, such an insult to a black country lad.

I know what you mean. Most people think Barry from "auf wiedersehen pet" has a Brummie accent.

A lot of the time I can distinguish a local accent from Walsall, Wolverhampton, Tipton And Dudley. Sometimes I pick my Dad up from the pub and listen to him and his mates talking and I cant catch some of the conversation. Some of the sayings they use just don't make sense, "Co-layver" was one that I didn't get for a while but managed to look it up.

I feel really sorry for people that learn English then come to live in the black country, they must feel short changed at times. Indeed, also natives that have to come and live in the black country!

This be no laughing matter. The taxi driver was being racist.
