Ok I admit it. On the way home from work I like to chase down other cyclist on my bike and race them. The thill of my hybrid bike beating there carbon bike is amazing.

If they burn you up when you're pootling, don't get emotional. Sort that rubbish out, you want to be disciplined. They sweep past by timing the lights right as you've waited? Boo hoo, why don't you just buy a car and get fat? Time it. Timing it is exquisite. Get them, ON AN UPHILL!!!! Any charlie can overtake on a downhill, I laugh at them. Don't look at them. Don't acknowledge them in any way.

  • Show no pain, unless your face is just like that

Bang down the gears, stretch your legs, engage, pump, cruise past. 'twas a trifle. Piffling. Bring 'em on.

I cycle in chinos and a polo shirt mostly, any of those roadie bumfluffs want to try it with me I'll leave them sweating like a paedophile on a bouncy castle, I've had it all, the panting overtake to draw level, you can tell they're busting a gut and then they ease off and ride parallel! Drop them. Bang down, stretch legs, pump. Don't even condescend to glance at the silly billies.

I like it when silly little stravassoles pass me on my carbon bike, must absolutely make their day, amuses me greatly watching them grinning like a young boy with his first porn magazine.
It certainly makes my day if its windy, I just tuck in behind them and get an easy ride up the road.
I race on a circuit, join me if your up to it.
I'm based in Hertfordshire

Good old SCR
If someone catches me good on them and if i see someone in the distance i am not going to make a special effort to catch them , you never know how far or hard they have ridden or how harder a job they have to get in a tizzy about it all .
Its like strava , i know its in my sig but its more a training aid for me to see if i am hanging in there as i get older to compare against myself , i do not have the time or energy to go chasing KOM`s anymore.

That is all I care about when I'm cycling and I see the silhouette or flashing lights of a cyclist up in front. I'll give myself a good push and see what progress I can make, just pushes me to try a bit harder.

Knowing when to go hard and when to slack off helps, too. My commute home from work each day is 33.5km with about 500m climbing, so I have to pace myself. Sometimes I'll deliberately hold my speed down a bit, knowing that when a commuter cup racer flashes past me, I'll have energy in reserve to show him*** the error of his ways!

*** Yes, it's generally a "he": I hardly ever see women doing CCRs. I guess they really are our better halves.

A lot of us like to play 'The Game'.

Even more fun than overtaking someone is to intentionally slow down a tad. Let them very slowly catch up with you (you need mirrors for this.) Then you have 3 options.

1/ Let them overtake you, by which time they will be at the point of collapse, and a re-scalp will be no effort whatsoever.
2/ When they're seconds from overtaking, just accelerate away at Warp 9.
3/ Let them overtake you and take no action, just see it as your good deed for the day.

i have to admit i pass the same 6/7 cyclists day in day out on my commute to work i dont deliberately overtake them but yesterday one of them had a new racing bike and at the lights from red to green he stood up and gave it his all in top gear which made him accelerate very slowly i passed as normal and then he was trying to race me most of the way back for about a mile and a half
