Really chucking it down here (Hemel Hempstead) at the moment, going to be a very wet ride home if it doesn't let up.

Yeah, I almost didn't take the bike today after seeing the forecast for this evening. Scary.

It's started here in Manchester... fortunately I'm in the car*... actually I quite enjoyed my commute home in the rain the other day - it seems faster and more fun due to having to be more cat-like with the reflexes etc.

Tis a bugger having to dry out all the kit though ready for the next day

* Not at this precise second though!

+1, snapper.

I also don't like it when it's so heavy that water still manages to work its way under overshoes and you end up feeling water sloshing around your shoes.

I also don't like the fact that it makes me slow down. Not that going slowly helped me on Wednesday when I made a sub-walking-speed right-angle turn, front wheel went out from under me (smooth-brick block paving), next thing I know I'm looking at the sky. Grr!

It's very on-off kind of rain at the moment. Absolute downpour- stops- absolute downpour etc. Soon I'll be home drinking beer and watching the tour.

Yeah, it's cool as long as you haven't been up since half five, and have 30 miles to ride before you get home from work!

I can go with the 5.30 a.m. but not the 30 mile ride home. Pheewwww!!!! *respect*

It's not really pissing down here yet so I'm hoping I can miss it. I notice how the wind has changed direction ..... from a tail wind into a head wind.

Given a choice, no fun at all commuting in rain. It's naff when the summer turns out as rainy as the other seasons, don't you think? I mean, we deserve a few weeks each year of commuting without getting soaked!

Just missed the worst of it - went out fully proofed, for a little light drizzel - kept the pace down...didn't fancy boil in the bag.......

At five o'clock when I left work yesterday, it wasn't raining. At six o'clock when I left York, it wasn't raining. Just as I went into ScrewFix at six fifteen, it started raining. By the time I came out it was a monsoon. Two cycling police officers were trying to shelter under a bush, but the rain drops were so big that it wouldn't have made any difference. I waved through the downpour and they waved back.

At 6.45, while I was two miles from home, it stopped raining.

This morning, my cycling shoes were still damp. And it was raining again.
