can't get my trousers past my huge thighs!!
hey guys im posting yet another thread on advice on buying a new bike as my other 'new' Carrera tdf. is feckered after being hit with a car on Wednesday!!

I got offered the bike today for only £120 and have found that they are on sale for £470 online brand new!
but obviously I would rather have u guys opinions on the bike and wether it would be a good purchase?

seems to have much the same geometrics and parts as the Carrera tdf. but slighty more expensive!

from the pics iv'e seen it seems to be mint condition and has been used only 2 or 3 times from what I can see. but will obviously be having a wee test run and once over before I buy it !!
cheers guys :smile:

No personal experience, but seems to get a decent write-up here:

I had a Raleigh a few years ago and it was a reliable machine

@carrera25 - buy it.

And if you don't and it's a 51cm - PM me. I need a 2012 51cm Airlite frame and I'll take an entire bike if I have to.

Mine did 3500 commuting / club run miles in 14 months without any issues apart from the front fork showing issues as it's steel. Raleigh do replacements, with a carbon fork being the easiest.

im pretty sure im goin to buy it due to the sheer cheapness of the bike which is just a little over what I will need to pay to fix my Carrera tdf. but always like to ask you guys since im still a bit of a newbie! but if u are looking for this bike and I don't buy then you want me to buy it for you??

@carrera25 - I guess it depends how close you are to Yorkshire? If you are, then yes.

Basically I've a frame coming to transfer parts across. If I can get an entire bike though I'll simply swap the forks.

Go on, tilt your head!
I was in my LBS yesterday and they used to be a Raleigh dealer back in the day. They now only have one Raleigh in the store and they can't shift it. They said they wear awesome when made in Nottingham, pony when they were made in a jungle clearing somewhere ( I forgot the Asian country he said) and now they are made in Turkey and seem to be a bit better. Take from that what you will...

@JoeyB - Raleigh are now owned by the Dutch company Accell, who also own Ghost and Lappiere.

@carrera25 - not close, but possible. Train? Bus to Glasgow, train to Carlisle & ride back ...

it's very unlikely that I won't buy the bike and use it for my own for commuting!! but I pinky promise to let you know if I want to move the bike on at anytime as I still have my Carrera tdf. to get fixed up that might feel better to me!! so you're top of the list if the bike aint for me...okay?? :smile:
