Raleigh Mirage Redux

Latest project completed.

Circa 1990 Raleigh Mirage with 300LX groupset, Biopace rings. Been stood in a garage for the last 20 years. Decals removed, frame polished up with T-cut. Given a full clean, lubricate and adjust, new cables and front axle.

Makes a nice summer cruiser.

I have that exact model in my garage - same colour - purchased new in 1990.

It doesn't look like that ........ nice job.

By coincidence i was showing it to my Dad at the weekend after he was telling me all about these new fangled oval chain rings that had just been invented for Bradley Wiggins !!

Didn't know it came with one. I nearly bought one of its siblings back in the 1990s, the Raleigh Yukon, same frame I think, just orange and yellow. In the end I bought a Raleigh Criterium road bike. These old MTBs are good value when you compare them to the supermarket junk for the same money.

Now kitted out as a tourer with some £7.99 Vittoria tyres from Decathlon and a £7.49 alloy rack from Poundstretcher. I already had the Cateye computer and Bassano saddle.
