We actually managed to sell it on a non-specific internet auction site, and got a decent amount for it. However, we had spent some money on cables, brake pads, tyres, bars, grips and brake levers, a chain and a wheel truing, but we managed to break even.

Which was nice.

The bike looked nice when we sold it too, if you ignore the mudguard...

Don't know why but ladies bikes always se to go for little money.

I think there are several reasons.

They are less fashionable and collectible as some men won't ride a lady's frame. This is especially true of club bikes like Raleigh Lentons. After all, did Reg Harris race a step-through frame?

For the more common bikes like Raleigh roadsters, there is often more of them around in good condition as a lady wouldn't abuse her bike in the way that a man might. In fact, I suspect many covered very little miles as they were always horribly over-geared and difficult to ride as a result.

The exception seem to be pre-war loop frames which have a huge fan base.
