Raleigh Sojourn tourer

It looks pretty and has disc brakes. It's new to the UK market apparently although it's been selling in the US as a competitor to the Surly LHT.

Sora shifters seems a bit cheap and cheerful to me.

Do disc brakes mean that the choice of rack is limited?

I think that having discs does reduce the rack choice. That said I did see a post somewhere mentioning something about the way the disks are mounted can make a difference to. Wasn't that interested at the time so didn't follow it up as cannot really justify the disks on a tourer.

For me, the 50/39/30 just wouldn't work so that would have to go. Not all keen on Sora either.

Still prefer a Surly Long Haul Trucker or a Thorn.

no probs with racks on this bike as the disc caliper is in the same (sensible place) as the boardman cx team looks a nice tidy bike

If 30/34 isn't a low enough gear, it would be the work of moments to swap the inner ring.
24/34 for a 19" gear, anyone?
And I thought running a 24/26 for a 25" gear on my Carbon Uberbike was overkill...

I believe it's had good writeups in the states. Nothing wrong with Sora.

It comes with a rack mounted or? I've got a singular peragrine with discs and a rack mount in a similar spot. It's not a huge deal but it does sit the rack a little high and you can feel it. Not a problem if it comes with that rack in the picture.

Nothing wrong with Sora indeed. To be honest, nothing wrong with their Tourney range as long as you treat them right, although probably not on tour.

An 1100 quid bike with Sora is sort of silly money though.

I did my last two tours with a Sora/Tourney mix. No problem until airport handlers damaged Tourney rear mech but it bends back ok and only a tenner for a new one anyway.
Oh the simple life.
