Ran into the Nicest Woman

I was riding to the outskirts of our town on a multi-user path with my wife. We where headed to get some Mexican food for late lunch on a beautiful Saturday ride. (24C, light winds) We come to an intersection with the road , wait for a clearing in the traffic and ride across as we have done many times before. I an aware that at pedestrian crossings you have to get off your bike and walk but the convention here on multi-user paths is stop and when appropriate to ride across. When I am about halfway across the street a woman in her F-250 about 150 yards away starts accelerating in a bid to shoot in front of me. As I always make eye contact when crossing I know she is perfectly aware of what she is doing. About 60 yards away she slam on the brakes and gets on the horn. she is a good 50 yards away. I did make a gesture as to indicate "what the hell are you doing", but no rude finger gestures nor swearing. Through all of this I just keep riding, not particularly fast, but riding . The woman parks here truck (in the crossing) and shouts out that cyclist have to give the right of way to motorists. I am so far down the path that I don't even turn around to acknowledge here.

How can you give way if she is so far away?

Sounds like a delightful woman. I hope she was fat - the irony would be much better.

I get that sort of thing here. The bottom of my street is a blind bend, the next junction is a 'T', blind from both sides.
The usual thing is for people to speed round them both and be really put out when you're there, or to saunter round, see you and floor it to make it look like you've nearly caused more carnage than an episode of Chips (where I think Eric Estrada's teeth caused more accidents due to dazzle).
Having been taught astounding levels of zen-like tolerance by my ambulance driving better half, I just let them work it out for themselves that I don't give a stuff.

Good she was a distance away, even if she is in the wrong. I wouldn't want to get into an argument with an F250.......

having been in the midwest america this year ( I guess alberta is pretty similar)

they make perfect sense out there................. was surprised I'd think that, but they really do!

The F550 in crew cab pick up form is 24 feet long and has a GVW of 9 metric tons. Yikes !!!!!
