This has gotten a lot to do with , Solar and home automation than anything else. However in one of my solar groups , they talk about Home Assistant. Optimal way is to run this on Raspberry Pi ? Low power and very configurable! Anyway done this ?

I fancied trying the pi, but they seem to be unobtainable. Afaik the pi runs linux, so any similar device that can run linux with suitable ports would work? You could look at a basic mini pc that would run windows and/or linux, available for cheap on ebay etc.

I was looking at this as I have a couple of Pis hanging around (don;t ask) but they are quite old and slow
They used to be OK but, as per usual, the current version of the operating system uses more memory and processor than the version did when I fist started messing about with it

If anyone has got this working on an old Pi I would be interested in hearing about it!
