Reality TV. Is it all bad?

Is that because all the Dr's and Nurses are in the mess watching the TV?

I wouldn’t describe these shows as "Reality TV" shows as that includes (as others have mentioned) lots of other shows. I would say they are "voting" shows and I cant stand them (with the possible exception of BB when it first started).

I really cannot see any appeal in shows like "Strictly....", "Britain’s got Talent", "X factor" etc. I like new music; I really appreciate good talent and music in general. But I cannot for the life of me understand why these programs are so popular.

Colleagues at work cannot explain it. One has an interest in singing and performing. But the others say they just watch it because their wives/kids do. They enjoy it but cant explain why!
