Really dangerous overtake - and an insult on top!

Travelling to the gym last night and I was going down a quite narrow road - cars parked either side and only really room for a car and a bike to overtake one another in the middle.

Anyway there's me and there's a red Nissan behind me and coming towards me is another cyclist with a silver Golf behind him.

The silver Golf decides to over the cyclist - fair enough thinks me - it's tight but I'm not going to make a fuss about it - then the red Nissan behind me decides he must overtake me at the same time!

Que much swerving and accellerating and we all managed to miss one another.

I was quite sedate about it and just did a sort of arm out exaggerated "what did you do that for" sort of gesture - didn't even shake my head.

Anyways, out of the window comes the arm and he gives me the finger!

What gets me about this sort of thing is as they have overtaken you they are clearly checking to see if you have come off or not as they always see your gestures! Why do they do it if they know it is risky and why then give me the finger for slightly complaining (without swearing for once) that they have come close to killing you!

By the way - of course - after the golf there was nothing else stopping the red Nissan from going on their way nicely!

Just really cheesed me off last night!

The finger is in reaction to your arm waving, and very unlikely due to the incident itself.

Because, unfortunately, being a dick-head doesn't disqualify someone from holding a driving licence. (That's assuming the driver actually had a licence.)

Had a driver pull out on me on Sunday am, whilst I was on a roundabout. Cue me locking up and sliding my back end - mumbled 'idiot' to him, got a 'Fxxx Off' back.

I must admit I turned round and then called him a "F-ing fat twit' very loudly so he could hear me.

Just d-lock 'em.

it's really not worth it as most people's stock response to anything at all is a finger or **** off

I'd take a bit of solace from the fact you're not alone. Check out 101 self-gratification artists (an amusing, real-life take on a female cyclist's interactions on the road).
