Rear hub?

I'm after a single speed bike to go to and from work on. Fancy something simple and straight forward.

Might be a daft question but could I fit a freewheel on both sides of the hub? I'm wanting to fit a larger and smaller gear to help with the hills. Then I realised that there isn't a mech to keep the chain tensioned.. Is there anything else I could use?

Yes, as long as you have horizontal drop outs.

Don't you just move the wheel backwards in the dropouts to tension the chain?

If you've got mudguards fitted (good for commuting), make sure they allow the full range of tension!
