Rear mech hanger (dropout) help!

I've started to tidy up my old Virtuoso (entry level Carrera road bike) and my next task is to replace the old bent up rear mech hanger. Which currently hanging the very expensive and exclusive 'Sora' series hanger .
However, exploring t'internet has thrown up a wide variety of purchasing options and I'm not sure which I'll need.
Could anyone provide any hints?

Have you tried Halfords? They might need the year as well as the model.

Remove the hanger and take it to your LBS and get them to tell which type it is.
Some shops have a wall chart with the outlines of many hangers so they can identify the correct one.

Unless you know the exact type of hanger the net might not be the cheapest option when you factor in
the and frustration if you get the wrong one.
