Rear mech

The choice of rear mech mainly comes down to what you are running at the moment. How many different gears have you got on the cassette at the rear of the bike? 7, 8, 9 or 10?

And the correct answer is - get the very best that you can afford/justify. If you're running Shimano though, don't be tempted to go for a SRAM mech unless you intend to change the shifters too, as the actuation ratio is different (Shimano 2:1, SRAM 1:1)
