Being a bit short and a lot frail I've struggled to align my MTB rear axle when fitting my rear wheel - can't reach to use the Allen key and view the other side alignment at the same time. Solution in pic. The sleeve on the Allen is a length of shower inner pipe that just happens to fit in the threaded frame hole. So, sleeve into frame hole, this centres the Allen key, push axle through from the other side and the Allen fits the hex hole in the axle. Continue pushing the axle through, the sleeved Allen keeps the axle centred, aligns it perfectly and keeps the wheel stable (which my caliper approves of).
