It now looks like I am going to have to bite the bullet and get with the digital age if I am serious about getting one of them milometers. (I had recently asked on here about the old analogue type). If anyone is pleased with their choice of a particular digital milometer and can recommend it I would be interested.

It sounds as if you are looking for a basic model, in which case the Cateye Velo 7 could meet your needs. This article might help you choose, wired or wireless..... http://www.evanscycles.com/buying-guides/technology#computers
The Cateye range is not the cheapest but has been around for some time, I've found them to be reliable and able to withstand UK weather at its worst.

If you look on Decathlon site they have very basic ones. I have one that just measures speed, trip and total millage.
B'twin Count 4 wireless £11.99.

If you're after a basic 'mileometer' then you won't go far wrong with the Halfords 'Essentials 5 Function' one - currently £5.99.

Thanks for the replies. I did look at the Garmin 1000 (edge?) and while being a nice item they seem to be around the £300 mark. I acknowledge the navigation aspect, but realistically I only need mileage info really. Maybe in the future, it is something to consider.

I’m sure the two items (mentioned by Dirk Thrust and User32269) would have provided what I needed, but by the time I saw their posts I had bought the Cateye Velo 7, (wireless type) as mentioned by Snorri. I got one from fleabay at £21.39 inc postage. Should be here in the next day or so.
