Coffee and Recumbent Trikes.......
Simple request, recommend a road bike with a "soft/compliant" ride......

I have a knackered back so would like to find a road bike that is a little more forgiving. I am a recumbent cyclist - can manage a full suspension 29er so want to try a road bike now.......

Thanks

I would think a steel frame with touring geometry would do the trick.
Titanium is supposed to give a comfy ride, but it's rather expensive.

tyre choice and pressure will have more impact on 'compliance' than any frame ever could. If you have back problems, then getting a good fit is essential.

Cheers team !

I knew I could rely on you guys for ideas.....

Now that looks like a neat setup....keep the suggestions coming.....

Does anyone know if the Avanti Cadent is any good as I have been told they have more flex on the rear....

Also wasnt there a Trek with a flexy rear end ? And sone pivoty thing ?

There are a few MTB frames around with minimal rear 'suspension', the Moots YBB being an example. In 29" form with suitable components it could be built as a road bike of sorts. I don't know if there are any road frames that have a similar rear end?

Been looking at the Roubaix and it looks rather smart..... And there are some cheap'ish 2012 bikes around (here in Oz).....

And that flexy seat post looks rather neat....

Might go looking at bikes tomorrow !

It looks like an expensive gimmick to me, but apart from that I do admit to hankering after a Roubaix.

I have broken a few bones in my back and neck and slipped a couple of disks (a good few years ago).... long story.
I bought a Specailized Tricross because it was slighty less racey than a full on roadie, with a couple of spacers on the headset to make it an easy reach.
I am obivously not the most flexible of people now but the Tricross suits me nicely

Hope you find the right bike
