Recommend me some tyres

My lad is just about grown out of his Ridgeback MX24, so I picked up a Specialized Hardrock Sport off eBay. It's a 26" wheel, I reckon a 650 or 29e would be too much to handle at the moment.
Anyway, it needs tyres. In the past I've gone with Schwalbe Land Cruisers as an all rounder, but following a trip to Swinley Forest this week found them somewhat lacking. Any recommendations? We tend to do mostly towpaths but I think he's going to want to do more trails if this week is anything to go by.

Not necessarily the cheapest but you'll not go wrong with some Continentals. Trail Kings or Mountain Kings are both good tyres. I ride the latter myself so I'm slightly biased! If you shop around they can be found for a good price.

I have a Hardrock pro 26" mtb and the original specialised fast trak tyres were terrible in the slightest bit of mud, I swapped them for some Maxxis ignitors which were a vast improvement, and weren't overly expensive either.

Cheap & cheerful but seem to perform well enough front and rear in all conditions for my oldest lad. 2x thumbs up from me.....
