....cone spanners

The ones I have are cheap n nasty

My front wheel needs a fettle so this seems the ideal time to get myself a set

There won't be a lot of difference tbh between cheap and expensive, they'll all be pressed steel of some type.

I have the Park Tools ones, they do have a nice rubber grip on them, which is nice

Park, Pedros. Ice tools if they are cheap enough on the bay.

Not that I would be stripping down a fairly new wheelset in all honesty, it probably doesn't need it and the chances of getting it back exactly how it was from new are slim unless you know what you are doing.

Do you even know if it is a cup and cone hub?

Some hubs don't even use a cone spanner, just an allen key.

I just wondered what sizes do you usually get for 700cc wheels? Just I have an old wheel I wanted to mess about with to try and learn.

The cheapo pressed steel kind often come with two sizes per end....13/14mm and 15/16mm
You might come across 17mm locknuts though - being on the "outside" though tehy don't need a thin cone spanner.
